Creating Notes in Photoshop

Taking Notes while Working on the Computer

Do you ever find yourself working in Photoshop and writing a note to yourself? Photoshop makes it easy for you to write notes right within Photoshop? An under-utilized tool, I think! https://youtu.be/NSwzyHzfrvU

The note tool is located in the same list as the ruler and eyedropper tool, so selecting the note tool becomes very simple. First, click on the document icon. An icon and a note panel will appear when you click once on your canvas.

Feel free to type inside the note panel.

  • To change the colour of the icon, go to the options panel above.
  • Click on Notes in the window, notes, to see your messages. Here you can edit, delete and navigate through them.
  • To turn off all notes in your workspace, you need to go to view, then show the messages.
  • Click once and wait until you get the hand, then drag the note to another place on your document.
  • If you click on the note icon and don’t wait for the hand to appear, it will create another note in Photoshop.

This is a great option if you needed some instructions about the file or a reminder. The cool thing is when you save images from Photoshop, the notes will not have any visual effect.
